Doolin from Northern California

Our California bred puppy is home!

After getting back from a wonderful vacation we flew down to California to pick up our beautiful mantle Great Dane puppy, Doolin, Davishire’s Moving Hearts. Doolin is named after a fishing village in Ireland. The puppies in this litter were born on St. Patrick’s day and had Irish theme names. We kept Doolin’s puppy name, although he came close to being called Duncan :-). Moving Hearts is an Irish band, so we stayed with the Irish theme for his registered name also. I had come down to California when Doolin was 6.5 weeks and fell in love with him. We left on a 3 week vacation shortly after that so our “little” great dane puppy is about 3 months now πŸ™‚

When looking for our second Great Dane, I wanted to get a puppy that was calm with a typical Great Dane personality. VooDoo turned out to be a bit of a whirling dervish and I was hoping to get her a lower energy playmate. The higher energy Danes can be a bit challenging to live with, especially as young dane puppies. Β Doolin’s breeder interviewed me in great detail and listened to what I was looking for. She said Doolin would be perfect for us and she was so right. I’m so glad that I found a Great Dane breeder that knew so much about Danes and was careful to fit the puppy temperament with the new family.

Moving Hearts was a perfect name for our California bred puppy, Doolin, as he has most certainly moved my heart and does so with everyone he meets. I love Doolin, he is the sweetest puppy and very calm. He’s quite a character!
